Research Profile
Research focus in environmental science and ecology. Current projects focus on using high resolution or hyperspectral remote sensing image (satellite or airborne) and in-situ spectroradiometer to derive environmental parameters, such as vegetation biophysical parameters and CDOM (Colored Dissolved Organic Matter) concentrations in selected rivers. As sensor networking has advantages for collecting ground truth data with improved spatial-temporal characteristics, future research plans are to incorporate data from sensor networks with data collected from satellite remote sensing technology to estimate ecosystem carbon at different levels (individual tree or forest stand or watershed), including leaf temperature, forest CO2 flux, nutrients in leaf/soil/water, CDOM and phytoplankton concentrations in water.
