Research ProfileResearch focuses on Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy, especially the impact of uncertainty on climate change emissions and technology policies. Current studies include collecting expert elicitations on energy technology R&D and evaluating the impact of energy R&D portfolios on greenhouse gas emissions and the environment. A new, interdisciplinary project focuses on developing metrics for sustainability for the Pioneer Valley region, and developing a decision support system that relates electricity generation decisions to sustainability metrics, including uncertainty. Keywords
Climate Change, Renewable Energy, Water Resources Jeffrey BlanchardAssociate Professor
Research ProfileResearches systems-level approaches to understanding bacterial stress response networks related to host-pathogen interactions and the influence of global climate change on populations of marine cyanobacteria and communities of bacteria. Focus areas include use of genomic data to discover functions for genes and proteins; rules governing and constraining biological systems; and predictive models of biological systems that incorporate biochemical and genetic data. Keywords
Climate Change, Renewable Energy David F. BouttAssistant Professor of Hydrogeology
Research ProfileRESEARCH INTERESTS Hydrogeology, discrete fluid-solid coupling in porous media, poroelasticity, discrete element methods, watershed hydrology. Keywords
Climate Change, Hydrogeology, Water Resources Raymond S. BradleyDistinguished Professor
Research ProfileResearch in climatology, paleoclimatology, global change, and arctic environments. Research focus on climate variability across a wide range of time scales and how present day climate differs from climates in the past and the causes for change. Interests in climatic change impacts on water resources. Keywords
Climate Change, Water Resources Julie Brigham-GretteProfessor
Research ProfileResearch focuses on revising and modernizing the glacial and sea-level history of the Bering Strait region, the paleogeography of Beringia, and the paleoclimatic history of the Arctic and Subarctic regions. Recent work has involved collaborative projects with Russian geologists in northeastern Russia. Investigations include the late Pleistocene paleoclimatic history and drainage record of Glacial Lake Hitchcock and the Holocene evolution of the Connecticut River and understanding the climate evolution of the Arctic via a long continuous lake record from El'gygytgyn Crater Lake in northeastern Siberia. Keywords

Research Profile-Hydroclimatologic variability and change -Climate risk management in infrastructure systems -Water, climate and economic development -Sustainable water resources planning and management Keywords
Climate Change, Energy Efficiency, Natural Resources Management, Water Resources Stephen J. BurnsAssociate Professor
Research ProfileResearch includes paleoclimatology and sediment diagenesis using stable isotopes, focusing on developing records of climate change on the continents. Research aims at producing quantitative estimates of climate change from continental areas at high enough resolution to determine the driving forces behind climate change at various time scales. Keywords
Climate Change, Water Resources Robert M. DeContoAssociate Professor
Research ProfileResearch focuses on the physical and chemical coupling processes between individual climate system components and incorporates an interdisciplinary approach to understanding global climate dynamics and the mechanisms of past, present, and future climatic change. Keywords
Climate Change, Water Resources Sanjiv GuptaAssociate Professor
Research ProfileHis research is concentrated in the areas of family and gender, with a particular focus on time spent on housework and other activities such as leisure and socializing. In addition, he also researches family demography and sociology, gender stratification methods. Also interest in sociological implications of climate change. Keywords
